It is time to begin thinking about activities for this summer. Maybe you would like to consider spending a week on a mission trip to the Lakota in South Dakota. For the fifteenth year, Zion will sponsor trips to the Cheyenne River Reservation where our members join hands with Native Americans to work together to share the love of Christ. We will have two groups going from Zion this summer and the dates are June 24-July 2 and July 14-22. Now would be an ideal time to look at your summer calendar to plan to become a part of one of these trips.
Zion members began our relationship with the Lakota people when one group spent a week on the reservation fifteen years ago. Now Messiah-Weldon Springs and Trinity-Troy are gathering groups to this summer. The experience has become a part of the programs at local universities as well. This summer both Lindenwood University and the University of Missouri-St. Louis are considering trips for students in their programs.
We will be sharing more about this summer’s plans in coming weeks, but we ask that you please consider saving one of the two weeks listed above. Families are encouraged to go together for this unique experience and individual missionaries are always welcome. Training meetings will be scheduled prior to each trip to strengthen our understanding of the Lakota culture and maximize our efforts during the trip.
