Higher Ed – Sundays at 9:30 am

God’s Word has so much wisdom for our lives.  His desire is for us to study it with others.  Zion makes it easy for you to do that, through a variety of interesting and relevant Sunday morning courses.  The next series begins on August 19 and August 26.  Please read below to decide which course will become your new habit. Invite friends!

Conscious Discipline – Fellowship Hall starting August 19

An eight week, online video-course, with Dr. Becky Bailey, will help us develop an understanding of Conscious Discipline and how to build resilient homes and classrooms. Dr. Bailey is a leader in brain-based, social-emotional learning that builds positive approaches to challenging behaviors at home and at school. The eight sessions will include handouts, small group discussion and wisdom from God’s Word.

Cancer Companions – Discipleship Room starting August 19

Perhaps you recently received a cancer diagnosis or are caring for a cancer patient.  Or, maybe you have a cancer diagnosis and have seen the Cancer Companions notices in The Good News. If so, you may find a safe, supportive environment in the nine topic-driven sessions.

Through scripture-based guided study, participants explore how God is there for us during a cancer journey.  There also is time for sharing concerns, successes, etc., if desired.  Some of the topics covered include stress reduction, relationships, communication, prayer life, healing and more – all as they relate to the cancer journey.  We can be strengthened and uplifted by one another.  Our prayer is that you will feel the support of others and experience God’s peace and draw even closer to Christ.

Elijah – Fellowship Hall starting August 26

The kingdom of Israel divided around 930 BC. The northern kingdom (Israel) had one wicked ruler after another – as a result the culture fell for everything wrong. After six decades of evil, Elijah entered into this culture and stood for everything right. Mr. Dave Steinbacher will lead us through a look at Elijah’s life and find encouragement to stand for right in our culture.

Applying Confirmation Lessons to Real Life – Family Life Center starting August 26

Led by DCE Aaron Hansen, this class focuses on the confirmation students while welcoming adults of all ages.  We will be looking at life application of the things learned during the years of confirmation. What does it mean to be a disciple of Christ? Who is my neighbor? How valuable am I?
