Wednesday evenings January 21 through February 11, 7 to 8:15 pm in the Sanctuary.
The 2015 Zion Speaker Series will focus on the theme: "The State of..." and draw speakers from the Lutheran community in and around the St. Louis metropolitan area. The goal of the series this year will be to inform Zion's members and friends of the challenging conditions being addressed by various ministries of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod in our area.
· January 21st - Zion's Senior Pastor, Rev. Mark Rouland will open the series and discuss the state of Zion and the challenges which face us in this community given the various societal challenges which are present here.
· January 28th - What is the state of Lutheran Education in an educational landscape that is changing rapidly? Join the Rev. Dr. Matt Hoehner as he explores trends in education with a specific focus on Lutheran Schools in the St. Louis area. Learn more about the new strategies to ensure all children have access to a loving world-class education and the opportunity to grow in faith in Jesus Christ and love for their neighbor.
· February 4th - Rev. Mark Frith, Lutheran Hour Ministries, will speak on the state of the church. The Kingdom of God is in great shape, perfect shape, you might say. But membership statistics for the LCMS show a significant decline. Unless this trend changes, there will be some very lean years in the not too distant future. It is important to know what is at issue, and, if we are the problem, what we are willing to do to make change.
· February 11th - Mr. Jerry Marx, director of the Lutheran Family and Children's Services branch in St. Charles will speak on the state of the family. Mr. Marx will explore the challenges which face parents in our culture. Come and hear about some ways to combat the increased stresses on families in a demanding world.
Please join us as we look at each of these subjects. That's 7 PM in our sanctuary every Wednesday night starting January 21st and running through February 11th. There is no charge for admission.
